Mitchell’s Newsagents has announced a new collaboration with the latest local supplier to grace the shelves of the High Street store - Alyth-based coffee roaster Little Birdie.

The artisan business offers small batch roasted and blended coffee from around the world as well as supplying loose leaf teas and hot chocolate flakes made from Belgian chocolate.

There are seven different types of coffee available, including three blends named after the local area – Belmont, Strathmore and Isla.

Cornelia Macwilliam from Little Birdie said: “I used to live abroad and roasted coffee on the stove top.

“We moved to just outside Alyth, and a few months ago I started selling roasted coffee to local outlets.

“We are, to the best of my knowledge, the only local coffee roaster in the east Perthshire area and we’ve have been delighted with the response to the products.

“Kevin and Angie at Mitchell’s saw us on social media and invited me to start selling in the shop as well, which has been great.

“I’m delighted to be working with such a well-established and well-known business as Mitchell’s, particulary one that actively promotes the products as much as they do.”

Mitchell’s owner Kevin Donald said: “We had seen Little Birdie on social media and, with it being a bit different and right on our doorstep, were keen to get in the shop for our customers to try.

“As a local business ourselves, we love supporting other local businesses by providing them with a platform to sell their products in our store, and their products are all very popular with our customers.

“As well as Little Birdie, we work with Smelleez Soaps, Taystful Chocolates and Auld Reekie.

“We’ve had lots of positive feedback and Cornelia is so professional, and an absolute delight to work with.”
