Paraffle Embroidery
Paraffle Embroidery creates modern embroidery kits and craft accessories with a focus on community, sustainability, and social responsibility.
Paraffle was founded by Sammy Bishop in 2016 while she was studying for a PhD in Edinburgh. Looking for a creative outlet - and some form of stress relief - Sammy taught herself how to embroider in her spare time.
She began designing her own modern embroidery patterns, and soon decided that a career in academia was not the place for her. Shortly afterwards, she threw her energy behind creating and growing a craft business - and Paraffle (which means 'embroidery' in Scots!) was born.
Paraffle is now based in a studio in Edinburgh. Sammy is constantly working to make Paraffle a more sustainable and socially responsible business: the embroidery kits now only include organic and ethically sourced fabric; they use sustainable packaging and recycled postal pacakaging; and several kits have been created for charities, who receive the proceeds of sales.
Paraffle's embroidery kits are all suitable for beginners, and provide an accessible, approachable way to learn a new craft.
